While scientists throughout the world are beginning research on the results of CBD on the physical body, workers at the Polish Zoo decided to conduct an experiment and improve the spirit of elephants using CBD oil.
CBD has been used on many other animals and has become commonplace in some pet stores, despite some controversy. The veterinarians at Warsaw Zoo hope the non=psychoactive hemp extract also can help the highly-intelligent elephants.
At Warsaw Zoo, many elephants have experienced stress, which resulted in fights and conflicts developed between animals. Consistent with the zoo’s website, the oil is predicted to enhance their mood and reduce conflicts within the herd.
Zoo workers said that they decided to use CBD oil due to bad elephants’ behavior after Erna’s death, who had been the top of the herd before. This treatment program is meant to assist a female elephant named Fredzia, who cannot find her place within the herd, and her rival, Buba.
Elephants are especially sensible, plus as they’re highly social animals. consistent with Patryk Pyciski, the zookeeper of the Warsaw Zoo, the elephant Fredzia couldn’t rebuild and used the “tough trunk” mentality to say dominance over the elephant Buba after the death of the top of the herd. Buba, in turn, achieves a more rational approach during this struggle.
The project is headed by Agnieszka Czajkowska, a vet at the Warsaw Zoo, who said that this is often not the primary time that CBD oil has been utilized in the zoo. The oil was previously given to horses and dogs, and this point it had been chosen for elephants.
A video posted on the zoo’s official website states that even factors like changes within the weather or environment can affect the elephant’s spirit and make them feel uncomfortable and tense.
“We would absolutely love to learn how CBD oil affects elephants. Same largest Zoos, we do research and observe the number of stress hormones. Because of this, we’ll know if the substances help the elephants,” Czujkowska said.
Some manufacturers add CBD oil to pet food to enhance the quality of living, as cannabidiol may positively affect the endocannabinoid system in dogs, cats, and other mammals.
